One of the principles of Gaston Hope in Christ is non-competition. If a need is being filled adequately by another group, we do not want to compete with them. So we don't have a food pantry. But on holidays, with the help of local businesses, we provide FOOD AND GIFT ASSISTANCE for families. Employees at Curtiss-Wright Flight Systems and elsewhere, as well as members of some of our supporting churches, donate time and energy to make a family's Christmas better. To help, simply contact us! FAMILY HOPE WORKSHOPS- Every family has areas they need help in. Gaston Hope in Christ sponsors a series of workshops designed to provide handles for families trying to succeed in today's tough world. We have held financial planning and medical directive planning workshops so far, and look forward to more in the summer and fall of 2002. We are always looking for other ways to help meet real needs for real people, and for those Christians who would partner with us to share Christ's love to others in this way. Currently our biggest program is Touch-A-Life tutoring. We tutor approximately 30 students during three days a week in Eastern Gastonia. Schools served include Brookside, Carr, Gardner Park, Holbrook, McAdenville, Sherwood and Wilson (west Charlotte). Students are provided a snack, play games, and receive tutoring help with their school work. On occaision, we are also able to provide additional help and enrichment such as field trips with the assistance of local individuals and businesses.
